Both Bernay and Lippmann both have similar ideas on how the world works and how a person forms their ideas of life and the environment around them. Both believe that propaganda is a tool used in the world today in order to shape and affect the decisions of the people around them. Like Lippmann's take on stereotypes and pseudo-environments, Bernay believes they are shaped by how we have grown up and what we are introduced to.
